Sima Gonsai – Artist Presentation

Sima is an award-winning director, programmer and educator in screen dance. This presentation will cover the journey into making the film Suspended Motion , creating the work and sharing its impact with audiences. The film’s director Sima Gonsai will share her experience of making the film, including behind the scenes footage and images. National Arts Manager Stephanie Tyrrell will share the impact of the work for those involved and audiences and the role of screen dance when supporting dancers with complex disabilities.

The film’s focus is on two deafblind dancers Caroline Sapseed and Joe Coffin who have been developing their dance practice with Sense for six years. This opportunity enabled Joe and Caroline to continue to develop the principles of Suspended Motion & create a new & original piece that showcases the very best of inclusive dance in the region.
