Growing Up, Going Out and Staying In – these are the three curated programmes of international short films selected from the open call to the Screen.dance 2021 festival all competing for the International Jury Award and Special Mention.
Going Out features nine dance films which abandon the confines of the stage and embrace the Great Outdoors with open minds and arms, charting new terrains even in cliched urban ruins and unforgiving deserts. Whether set in a maze of corn fields or the vast expanse of distant uplands, the dancers-explorers keep searching, navigating, gesticulating.
What makes screen dance so restless? Is there any landscape out of bounds for the promiscuous genre of screen dance?
